Keeping Your Sleeper Sofa Clean

Unexpected guests? Pull out the sleeper sofa for the night. Concerned that it might be a bit dirty? Don’t worry. You’re not alone. Few people consider cleaning their sleeper sofa on a regular basis. It’s okay, though, because cleaning your sleeper sofa is easier than you think. The process starts with your vacuum. You’ll want to vacuum the cushions and the inside of the sleeper sofa to get rid of any dust and crumbs that may have accumulated. In fact, you’ll probably want to make this part of your standard cleaning routine. While you don’t have to pull the bed all the way out every time, just keeping the surface crumb free can go a long way toward saving you time.

Vacuum both sides of the mattress and wash the bedding carefully. As soon as guests leave, you’ll want to rewash the bedding, as it will help the mattress stay fresh.

Be sure that you vacuum any dust up that you find on the mattress after you take the bedding off. If you notice any spots or stains on the mattress, treat them with soap and water. Also, flip the mattress on a regular basis to extend its lifespan.

Pull the mattress completely off, then wipe down both the frame underneath as well as the legs to the sleeper sofa to help the whole thing look clean. Be careful if you have a leather sofa, though, because you won’t want the water to leak onto the cushions or the sofa itself.

Finally, put the mattress back on, add the bedding, and fold it back up. It’s ready for your guests!
